A dust collector is an industrial machine that draws dust-laden air through a fan, separates the dust with a cyclone or filter, and releases clean air. It keeps blasting booths, cabinets, and workshops safe and compliant. Airo Shot Blast, Jodhpur, manufactures cyclone, multi-cyclone, fabric bag, reverse pulse jet, pleated bag and cartridge dust collectors with filtration efficiency of up to 99%+, at prices from ₹50,000 to ₹20 lakh.
What Is a Dust Collector?
A dust collector (also called a dust collection unit or industrial dust collector) pulls dust-laden air from a blasting booth, cabinet, grinding point, or process area. A fan creates suction; the air passes through a cyclone or a filter medium, the dust drops into a hopper, and clean air leaves through a chimney or returns to the room.
Why Blasting Needs One
Abrasive blasting creates fine dust that hides the operator's view, damages machines, and is hazardous to breathe. A dust collector keeps the booth clear, protects workers, and helps meet pollution-control norms.
What a Dust Collector Does Not Do
It removes dust and particles, not gases, fumes, or chemicals. Those need a different system, such as a wet scrubber or carbon filter.
Types of Dust Collectors
| Type |
How it works |
Cleaning method |
Best for |
| Cyclone dust collector |
Centrifugal force throws heavier dust against the wall, and it falls into a tray |
None needed (no filter) |
Coarse dust, pre-cleaning, metallic dust |
| Multi cyclone dust collector |
Several small cyclones in parallel for higher efficiency |
None needed |
Higher airflow, coarse to medium dust |
| Fabric bag dust collector (motorised shaking) |
Dust collects on the bag surface, and bags are shaken to drop it |
Motorised or manual shaking |
Low-cost, intermittent use |
| Reverse pulse jet fabric bag dust collector |
Compressed air pulses knock dust off the bags online |
Reverse pulse jet |
Continuous operation, fine dust |
| Reverse pulse jet pleated filter dust collector |
Pleated elements give more filter area in less space |
Reverse pulse jet |
Compact, high-efficiency, fine dust |
| Cartridge dust collector |
Pleated cartridges trap fine dust, compact layout |
Pulse of compressed air |
Fine dust, small footprint, easy cartridge replacement |
Quick choice: cyclones for coarse dust and as a pre-cleaner, bag or cartridge collectors for fine dust and high efficiency, and pulse-jet versions where the machine runs continuously.
How Each Dust Collector Works
Cyclone Dust Collector
Dust-laden air enters tangentially and spirals down the cone. Centrifugal force pushes heavier particles outward, where they slide into a dust tray, and cleaner air exits upward. It has no filter to replace, but it is less effective on very fine dust.
Fabric bag Dust Collector
Dust-laden air passes through filter bags. Heavier particles fall into the hopper and finer dust collects on the bag surface. The bags are cleaned by motorised or manual shaking, or by reverse pulse jet air, and the dust drops into the hopper.
Pleated Bag Dust Collector
Air flows through pleated bag elements, which give a large filter area in a small space. An abrasion-resistant inlet drops out heavy particles first, which extends filter life. Solenoid valves trigger compressed-air pulses to clean the bags in sequence.
Dust-laden air passes through pleated cartridges, leaving clean air in the exhaust chamber. A compressed-air pulse cleans the cartridges, and the dust falls into the hopper. The layout is compact, and cartridges are quick to replace.
Choosing the Right Dust Collector
| Factor |
What to consider |
| Airflow (CFM) |
Match it to the number and size of sand blasting nozzle, or to booth or cabinet volume. Undersizing gives poor visibility. |
| Dust type |
Coarse dust suits cyclones. Fine dust needs bags or cartridges. |
| Dust load and duty |
Heavy or continuous use suits reverse pulse jet systems. |
| Space |
Pleated and cartridge units give more filter area per square metre. |
| Compressed air |
Pulse-jet units need a clean, dry compressed air supply. |
| Dust hazard |
Tell us if the dust is combustible (aluminium, magnesium, wood, etc.) so we can specify a suitable design. |
Benefits of a Dust Collector
- Cleaner, safer air: protects workers from airborne dust.
- Better visibility in blasting booths and rooms.

Dust Collector Manufacturer
We are the biggest dust collector manufacturing company in India with a noise-free centrifugal fan. Our Dust collection unit is dust-free and noise-free. Noise is mainly created by the exhaust fan. If the exhaust fan impeller is Statically and dynamically balanced, it is balanced. We also offer sand blasting machines, shot blasting machines, grit blasting machines, abrasive blasting machine, sand blasting cabinet, blasting room, table shot blasting machines, tumblast shot blasting machines, granite engraving machines, abrasive media, and air compressors, etc.
