  • To prepare a surface for painting, welding, or other procedures requiring a clean surface, an abrasive blasting machine is employed to release excess rust, scale, paint, & other debris.
  • It can also be employed to deburr, remove tool marks, & finish a crude product differently.
  • Alter the metallurgical properties & provide stress relief to a component via repeated shot peening impacts.
  • Obtain the mandated decorative & matte finish.
  • Give a partial masking element's real cutting & inscribing.

An Abrasive Blasting Machine requires various essential equipment elements for productive cleaning & treating of metal surfaces. Abrasive blasting machine process involves projecting abrasive media employing compressed air as the source of power. Fortunately converting compressed air & unmovable abrasive media bits into an efficacious cleaning treatment takes an assortment of general sense & engineered elements. Every element in an abrasive blasting system is a major contributor to the general performance of the system.

Abrasive Blasting Process

Abrasive blasting process is fully comprehended for the outward cleaning of bridges, ships, & other steel substrates. Abrasive Blasting machine is, however, an extremely productive process of cleaning & treating metal surfaces in encompassed systems. Enclosed systems vary from manually engaged Sand Blasting cabinets. where the operator is positioned outside of the blasting chamber. to large rooms where one & more operators work inside the chamber room. Within this range, enclosed systems offer countless choices of standard & custom-designed automated features tailored to product & treatment necessities. Whether employment is performed inside & outside. manually & automated. blasting productivity is determined by the selection of abrasive media & usefulness of efficacious components.

Different surfaces generally regaled by abrasive blasting machine approaches incorporate masonry (brick, stone, concrete, etc.), sand castings, aluminum, Stainless steel, mild steel, copper, brass, wood, ps ball, glass, & plastic, steel shot abrasive media.

Selecting the appropriate abrasive media & equipment for the assignment is primarily determined by the characteristics of the surface to be treated (such as paint, rust, & other thermal spray gun coatings), the desired treatment (like cleaning, deburring, etc.), & other relevant factors.

 Uses of Abrasive Blasting Machine :

  • It is engaged to clean a surface by extracting undesirable rust, scale, paint, etc., in preparation for painting, welding, & additional processes a certain demand a clean surface;
  • Deburr, release tooling marks, & differently finish a crude product;
  • Change metallurgical characteristics or stress alleviate a component by the shot peening machine effort of numerous impactions;
  • Deliver the selected matte & embellishing finish;
  • Provide a fundamental cutting & inscribing of somewhat masked elements,
  • Eliminate flashing (excess material) from molded plastic & rubber surface.

Various Abrasive Blasting Methods

There are various varieties of abrasive blasting media propulsion systems currently employed in industry & research facilities

Dry Abrasive Blasting

Dry abrasive blasting is one of the most broadly utilized blasting processes. The dry abrasive blasting technology integrates the usefulness of compressed air (pressurized), suction, & centrifugal blasting media propulsion methods.

Pressure Abrasive Blasting

In the pressurized abrasive blasting system, media is fed by gravity from a blast media pot into the airline across an orifice at the bottom of the pot. Advantages of pressurized media blasting include greater media velocity, quicker media mass flow, higher stand-off distance, and more productivity than suction systems.

Suction Abrasive Blasting

Suction abrasive blasting operates via the venturi principle to pull abrasive media from a nonpressurized sand blasting hopper to the blast nozzle at which it is combined accompanied by the compressed air stream & propelled as opposed to a substrate. Advantages of the suction abrasive blasting process include lower capital equipment cost, easier maintenance, and less air & abrasive media demand (lower energy cost).

Abrasive Blasting Equipment

Abrasive blasting equipment system is composed of assorted significant elements, including the following.

  • Air Compressor
  • Blast Pot (Pressure Blast Tank)
  • Abrasive (Blast Media)
  • Blast Nozzle
  • Moisture Trap
  • Deadman Switch
  • Blast Hood
  • Interconnect Hoses
  • Air Compressor

Air Compressor

The air compressor gives high-pressure air for the abrasive blasting operation. abrasive blasting machine takes in atmospheric air at 14.7 psi & compresses it to pressure several times higher, usually about 120 psi. The heat generated through compression is somewhat dissipated by an air intercooler. The air then passes by moisture & oil separators to assemble it dry and oil-free as it exits the compressor.

Abrasive (Blast Media)

While not regularly thought of as abrasive blast equipment, not much happens to the surface in the absence of the Abrasive media. Abrasive media are generally classified as expendable (onetime use) & recyclable. Type, size, shape & hardness of the abrasive all affect productivity as well as depth & shape of the surface profile & anchor pattern. Cleanliness of the abrasive is just as important as cleanliness of the compressed air employed to carry the abrasive media. A vial test is accomplished on new or recycled abrasive before use.

Blast Pot

The blast pot is a coded pressure vessel generally referred to as a pressure blast pot. Because it is a pressure vessel, it must have a stamp on it showing that it has been pressure tested. During operation, the blast pot is pressurized and feeds abrasive media into the air stream.

Blast Nozzle

The Abrasive sand blasting nozzle is a small but important piece of abrasive blasting equipment. It is the last item to exert influence on the blast media. Nozzles are identified by their shell composition, their lining composition, size of the orifice, & their length (for instance, aluminum shell with tungsten lining, size #7, short). Orifice size number relates to the size in 1⁄16 -inch units (#7 = 7⁄16 -inch). Size of the nozzle has a bearing on the quantity of air & abrasive media engaged & on the quantity of work completed. The more enormous the size of the nozzle, the more amazing the consumption of supplies. Nozzles are chosen for the work to be performed.

Hoses

Sand Blasting Hose varies in size hanging on the work to be performed, available air capacity, distance to the work area, & other considerations. The first in the sequence is the bull pipe. This is generally a short hose less than 50 feet long, with an internal diameter (ID) of approximately 2.5 inches or less that provides passage of air from the compressor to the Pressure Blast pot.
