Where this product is used

Highlighted use-cases so you can quickly match the machine to your job.

  • The pinch valve is an on/off switch to turn off, allow, or control the flow of any medium that passes through it.
  • A pinch valve allows an operator to stop the blasting operation without depressurizing the blast pot.
  • Portable shot blasting machines and sand blasting machines both use pinch valves. It is installed beneath the hopper where media is saved.

About Pinch Valve

Pinch Valve

The basic function of the pinch valve is to regulate the flow of media (corrosive, abrasive, granular). It uses pressurized air or a mechanical mechanism to open or close the valve. It uses a flexible inner rubber sleeve inside the valve which keeps the media isolated. These are used with slurries and granular products like sand, cements, gravel, textile, etc.

Pinch Valve Working

The Manual pinch valve has three major components of its working: a housing(outer body), internal rubber sleeve, and end connectors.

The rubber sleeve is the only component that comes in contact with the media and is fitted into housing from inlet to outlet.

The end connections are bolted at each end to provide support and connection to the valve.

The valve is open in normal condition(unpressurized), but when the pressurized air is coming in the valve, it pushes down the rubber sleeve and creates a pinching effect.

When the rubber sleeve is completely pinched, the flow is obstructed and the valve is closed.

When media strikes the rubber sleeve, it works as an absorbent to impact and gives it a longer service life than the metal surface.

Pinch Valve Advantages

-great for use in abrasive and corrosive media.

-it gives a straight path to media that means no obstruction.

-low turbulence and friction.

-Easy replacement of rubber sleeves.

-opening and closing time is fast.

Pinch Valve Disadvantages

- not suitable for high-temperature applications due to its elastomeric property.

- high-pressure differential can cause the rubber sleeve to deform or collapse so that valve cannot open fully.

- not suitable for vacuum applications as suction inside the sleeve results in collapse of the sleeve.

PINCH VALVE SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. MATERIAL – for easy handling body material should be lightweight .we should take careful consideration in selecting a rubber sleeve as it is the only part that comes in contact with the media. Its material may include natural rubber, NBR, ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM), silicone, food quality rubber. The material should have good abrasion resistance to overcome the damage.
  2. PRESSURE-  to prevent a failure to open up or close up the valve the pressure values should be taken into account.

-Mechanical mechanism to open and close the valve does not require any pressure or air system to operate. there is a threaded rod that moves up and down on internal threading in the body of the pinch valve.

PINCH VALVE FIELD OF APPLICATION

1) Plastic industry

2) chemical industry

3) cement industry

4) bulk and solid handling industry

5) ceramic industry

6) wastewater industry

7) food and beverage industries

8) pharmaceutical industry

PINCH VALVE APPLICATION IN SHOT BLASTING MACHINES

A pinch valve for slurry is used in portable shot blasting machines. It is fitted under the hopper in which media is stored.

A mixture of media and air comes in one end of the pinch valve from the hopper and further, another end is connected with T in which one side intake of air from filter regulator and the other side is the output of mixture of media and air with high pressure goes to the hose pipe and then to the nozzle.

OUTER BODY OF PINCH VALVE

-The outer body of the Manual pinch valve is made up of cast iron by casting method.

So it is the simplest valve design with an elastomer that can be pinched to cut flow using a mechanism of fluid pressure for media for various purposes.
