What Is a Dustless Blasting Machine?

How Does This Dustless Blasting Machine Work?

A vacuum brush fits over the end of the sand blasting nozzle, connected to a Y-shaped fitting with two openings - one feeds abrasive media into the blast stream, and the other connects to a suction line. As the machine blasts, the suction line pulls dust and spent media away from the surface in real time, routing it to the dust collector instead of the surrounding air.

This specific machine uses a 10 HP vacuum pump for recovery, paired with a fabric bag or reverse pulse-jet pleated filter dust collector, and runs on a pressure-type blasting principle - abrasive is pressurized and fed through the hose rather than drawn in by suction at the gun.

Dry Dustless Blasting Machines

A dry dustless blasting equipment controls dust through vacuum recovery instead of water - a vacuum brush or shroud captures spent media and dust at the surface and routes it to a dust collector, keeping the process fully dry. This eliminates drying time before coating and avoids slurry disposal, but requires a vacuum pump and dust collector as additional equipment.

A pressurized tank feeds abrasive directly into the blast hose, giving higher blasting pressure and faster cleaning rates. A pressure blasting cabinet is the more common configuration for heavier-duty work.

Suction-Type Dry Blasting Systems

A Y-shaped gun draws abrasive in through suction - one side of the gun handles air, the other draws media - mixing the two at the gun itself rather than pressurizing a separate tank.
