What Is a Remote Control Valve?

A remote valve control is a pneumatic component that lets a single operator start and stop a sand blasting machine from the nozzle end, using a twin-line hose connected to a dead-man switch (DMS) handle at the gun. It's a normally closed, self-sealing, fail-safe valve - if the operator releases the handle for any reason, the machine automatically stops blasting.

An exhaust valve built into the top of the valve body handles air venting, and a single valve manages both air intake and exhaust, keeping the mechanism compact and reliable.

How the Remote Control Valve Works?

The system runs on a twin-line pneumatic circuit between the deadman handle and the valve body. Here's the full cycle:

• At rest (handle not pressed), one air stream travels down the outbound line and escapes through an opening under the lever. The normally closed inlet valve stays closed, and the normally open outlet valve stays open - no blasting occurs.
• When the operator presses the deadman handle, that opening seals. Air in the outbound line reverses direction, returning through the inbound line to open the inlet valve and close the outlet valve.
• This pressurizes the machine and begins blasting - abrasive and airflow through the nozzle as long as the handle stays pressed.
• Releasing the handle immediately reverses the sequence: the inlet valve closes, the outlet valve opens, the machine depressurizes, and blasting stops.

Important limitation: pneumatic remote controls work reliably on blast hose lengths under 100 ft. Longer hose runs need a different control approach - check with our team if your setup exceeds this.
