A dry thermoset cleaning medium comprised of crushed urea, polyester, & acrylic is called plastic media abrasive. An assortment of particle sizes & hardness levels is suggested for separate kinds of medium. For circumstances where extracting the substrate material is prohibited or for blasting plastic parts, plastic media is broadly deemed the perfect medium. Automotive, aviation, watercraft, electronics, & industrial applications are instances of common industries.

Plastic Media Blasting

The method understood as plastic media blasting may be employed to quickly, affordably, & securely terminate coatings off practically any product. Plastic blasting media is similar to sand blasting machine operation, except it doesn't require silica sand or other strong abrasives. Instead, modest pressures of 20 to 40 psi are used to pneumatically apply recyclable plastic particles. The hardness of the plastic particles is from 3.0 to 4.0 Mohs, whereas that of hard abrasives is in the range of 7–8 Mohs.

Primer and topcoats may be easily removed by plastic abrasive blasting media without damaging delicate substrates like titanium, brass, copper, magnesium, aluminum, thin steel, and any other type of sensitive substrate since the plastic granules are softer than underlying substrates but tougher than coatings. Furthermore, the method may be used to surfaces like honeycomb panels, engineered plastic, fiberglass, and sophisticated composites, where chemical strippers are either not recommended or need to be used carefully. We are the leading plastic blast media suppliers in India.

Plastic Abrasive Blasting Media

In addition to its environmental rewards plastic abrasive blasting media offers significant economic benefits. With up to a 90% reduction in labor requirements plastic abrasive media can result in savings of both labor and downtime. Unlike chemical strippers, Plastic abrasive blasting media is an all-weather stripping method. Cool temperatures, which can render stripping chemicals almost inert, have no effect on the plastic abrasive blasting process; likewise, warmer temperatures, which cause rapid drying of chemical stripper films before they have completed their work. have no effect on Plastic media. The plastic media blasting process does not etch, warp. stretch, or remove metal, resulting in a stripped surface without compromising critical surface or mechanical dimensions. This results in longer equipment service life and virtually eliminates the need for tilling primers to achieve a smooth finish. The use of plastic abrasive media also reduces the extensive masking normally required prior to chemical stripping or abrasive blasting machine operation. The use of plastic media blasting does not harm bearings, seals. or many other components that could otherwise be damaged by the more commonly used stripping methods.

Plastic media blasting is a paint removal procedure in whichever small, granular amino thermosets & unsaturated polyester resins (plastic beads) are forced at heightened velocity through a sand blasting nozzle at a painted surface. The plastic beads have rough edges which serve as an abrasive to shatter & dislodge surface coatings of paint & grit. This process is similar to conventional sand blasting. However, the plastic media is much smallish forceful than sand & different abrasives & hence will not damage breakable substrates.

The media considered as the industry prototype will be the only ones utilized to describe the physical & polymer features of this product because no two plastic blast media are the same. Three distinct thermoset plastic materials are employed to create lasting abrasive shot blasting machine media, & they come in six different size ranges. Two of these items are amino resin copolymers, while one is an unsaturated polyester copolymer. Particle form, hardness, & chemical inertness are these materials' three most important qualities.

Finally, the inert character of the plastic media to its environment completes it well suited to general stripping applications. In storage, the media will not mildew, support bacteria growth, or be a food supply for rodents. It is unaffected by moisture and remains neutral in the presence of water. It is insoluble in most solvents and oils and is thermally stable under normal operating conditions and will not melt. These charactsistics yield a product that is extremely uniform in application under an assortment of conditions.

Plastic as a media eliminates storage & controlling perishablity problems certain now associated with organic abrasives like rice hulls & walnut shells. Via careful control of the size of the beads & blasting parameters, the plastic media, unlike numerous of the more traditional abrasives, may be disconnected from the lessened paint particles & dust, & be recycled again & again. The generation of caustic solvents & paint sludge associated with chemical stripping is almost completely eliminated. In addition, the greater process control achieved in plastic abrasive media as analogized to chemical stripping results in reduced damage to underlying surfaces.

Plastic blasting media appreciates unreasonable usefulness by the Navy, Army and Air Force, and is employed by commercial air carriers such as United Airlines and Republic Airlines. Concerns stay regarding the long-term effects of plastic abrasive media on metallic and composite substrates, as well as safety and health-related issues.
