A motorized shaking fabric bag dust collector (also called a shaker dust collector or shaker fabric filter) separates dry dust from air using fabric bags. Dusty air enters, heavy particles drop into the hopper by gravity, and fine dust is trapped on the bag surface while clean air leaves. To clean the bags, a motor and eccentric shake a rod connected to the top of the bags, which breaks the dust cake and drops it into the dust drum.
Manual shaking uses a hand lever. Motorised shaking does it automatically, on a timer or after you stop the fan, so cleaning is more consistent and needs less labour.
A shaker collector usually cleans when the fan is off, because shaking while air is flowing would push dust back through the bag. That makes it a good fit for shift-based or intermittent use. For round-the-clock, continuous operation, a reverse pulse-jet fabric bag dust collector is the better choice.
